  Dr. Ashok graduated in medicine from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Pondicherry, DO from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai and DNB from Aravind Eye Hospital, Theni.  Now he is the Chief Medical Officer at Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirupati. He has headed many community outreach camps (Cataract, Diabetic retinopathy, Glaucoma) in rural areas. He has completed M.Sc., Epidemiology course from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) through distance learning. He has done 1 year Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship (2015-2016) at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA. He has published and reviewed few articles in peer reviewed ophthalmology journals. He has presented papers and posters in National and International ophthalmology meetings. He is a study ophthalmologist for the National blindness survey (RAAB) in India. He has also been a Co-Principal investigator for a large epidemiological survey in Theni district, aimed at finding the comprehensive eye care need in a district. Apart from his routine clinical work of consulting outpatients and doing cataract and glaucoma surgeries, he also facilitates clinical, public health research projects at Aravind.
