Background of this workshop
LAICOs mentoring engagement with its current 10 mentees under SEVA’s Global Sight Initiative (GSI) started in 2016 with SIB’s SCALE Project. In all these years’ staff training, need-based discussions and continuous mentoring in addition to LAICO faculty visits were part of mentoring. Annual performance review meeting is one such key mentoring activity that LAICO organizes, either in one the GSI mentor institute or in one of LAICO’s mentees. This has served as a learning platform for the hospitals and encouraged them to share their learning and success stories. It also allowed to make a mid-course correction to the strategic plans created.
Since 2019, due to the spread of COVID, this in-person meeting with the mentees were deferred. Now, it’s time to resume the fellowship and to have in person meeting with specific objectives. As part of October summit 2022, LAICO is proposing to conduct LAICO- GSI Partners meet at LAICO on October 12th & 13th, 2022.
Highlights
To conduct a performance review on the key metrics:
Using the quarterly reports/ data shared by mentees, a performance review meeting will be done on key metrics like, demand (Direct walk-in & Outreach), quality, use of evidence (Data management), HR, Cost recovery and growth. This will provide insights and mentees will be able to identify areas for improvement or development.
Effective mentoring process:
LAICO is keen to understand from its mentees on the effectiveness of the current mentoring process followed in GSI initiative, its advantages, limitations and to the extent it has aided the mentees to achieve their goal. This brainstorming exercise will surface the strengths and challenges in the current mentoring design and will provide insights on developing a new approach (if required) to make it more beneficial for the mentees.
