For any Aravind centre, every annual day is a time to reflect on the long journey of serving the people. Since its opening two decades ago, Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry has seen steady growth in patient care, training as well as in community outreach. The hospital has handled 72,98,935 million out-patient visits and 6,85,225 surgeries; it is well-known for its green and eco-friendly initiatives. To mark the hospital completing two decades of its journey towards restoring sight, year-long programmes were organised, the culmination of which happened on the grand hospital day celebration held on February 18. Aravind-Tirunelveli too celebrated its annual day in February.

Aravind is greatly appreciative of the community sponsors for their sustained assistance in the smooth conduct of outreach eye camps. Every two years, Aravind Eye Hospitals arranges a meet of its eye camp sponsors as a way of acknowledging their support of the hospitals’ outreach initiatives. In the last month, Aravind Eye Hospital, Salem organised Sponsors’ Day which evoked an overwhelming response.
