Aravind-Tirunelveli is undergoing significant changes in terms of expansion of physical buildings. Construction of the new outpatient building is underway. Boomipooja, the ceremony to invoke blessings of the Almighty for a smooth and hassle-free was performed by an experienced priest. Staying true to the principle of go green, extreme care and efforts were taken to preserve and relocate the trees that came in the way of expansion, to an appropriate place.

Relocation of Patthamadai Vision Centre

Vision centre at Pathamadai was shifted to Cheranmahadevi and the new centre was inaugurated by Ms Saradha Ramakrishnanin presence of Dr R Ramakrishnan, Advisor and Dr R Meenakshi, Chief Medical Officer, Aravind-TirunelveliThe centre examined 51 patients on the inaugural day.

Relocation of Community eye clinic

Aravind Community Eye Centre at Cumbum was relocated to a spacious building in the same premises.

Residents Social Responsibility

Residents Social Responsibility programme at Aravind-Madurai remains active even in the era of Corona pandemic. The execution has been modified due to the circumstances, but the spirit continues. Two months back, the RSR programme supported the Annavaasal programme conducted by Mr.S.Venkatesan, Madurai MP.  He was impressed and came Aravind to personally thank and congratulate the PGs. Continuing with this, RSR programme has done two activities this month to celebrate Deepavali. In collaboration with an NGO partner, Enlight, with whom Aravind has been working for the past 5 years bedsheets were provided to destitute living by the road side. For the third consecutive year, Diwali dresses were distributed to the HIV infected orphans in Anbagam Home, Dindigul.

Inauguration of new operation theatre

Aravind-Theni opened an additional operating room for cataract to meet the growing demands. Special prayers were performed on the Ayuthapooja day, one of the auspicious days in the Navratri season.
