Purpose: The purpose of this conference is to encourage learning, continuous improvement and innovation among the mid-level ophthalmic staff and managers of Aravind Eye Hospitals. Arangam will be a place to share best practices with evidence and promote standardization of processes and systems. Arangam will address the lack of such a forum to share and encourage new ideas for non-doctors.
The vision for Arangam is to be an annual event, as part of October Summit, which showcases best practices and drives innovation within Aravind.
This two-day conference is proposed as an annual event to be held as part of October Summit during the pre-Diwali season.
Target Audience: All staff of Aravind Eye Hospitals, CCs, VCs – specifically MLOPs and managers; and doctors involved in operations and training.
Conference will have separate conference tracks for each of these areas:
- CARE: Related to outpatient care, investigations, vision centre services, counselling, patient education, pharmacy, outreach etc.
- FOCUS: Related to refraction, orthoptics, biometry, spectacles, contact lens and low vision etc.
- HEAL: Related to inpatient care, operation theatre, sterilisation & facility management (housekeeping), instrument maintenance etc.
- TRAIN: Related to teaching, training and skill transfer, audio-visual production etc.
Oral/Poster Presentation Competition
Participation
- Individual participation
- MLOPs, support services, managers and admin team can get the assistance of doctors to prepare their abstracts, presentations and posters
- Arangam Track organisers cannot participate in any competition
Doctors may also submit abstracts
- As the target audience is our MLOPs, management and support teams – doctors are encouraged to submit abstracts on topics relevant to this audience
- Presentations by doctors will be evaluated separately
Abstract Submission
- Abstracts should be submitted in English
- Abstract format : Title (Max : 25 words), Abstract (Max :250 words)
- Where necessary you can add an image to your abstract (Optional)
- Submitted content should not already have been presented or published
- Abstracts can be submitted only through your hospital’s submission team
- Deadline to submit abstracts by 20th September 2023
The Competition
- Out of all abstracts, 20 will be selected for oral presentations in each track
- Out of all abstracts, 20 will be selected for poster presentation in each track (A1 size 594×841mm paper)
- Oral Presentation Competition: 3 winners will be selected in each track
- Poster Presentation Competition: 3 winners will be selected in each track
Video Presentation Competition
Participation:
- Group participation (max. 3 members per group, at least one MLOP in each group, doctors can also participate)
- As the target audience is our MLOPs, management and support teams – participants are encouraged to submit videos on topics relevant to this audience
- Arangam Track organisers cannot participate in any competition
Video Submission:
- Video submission format : Video Title (max. 25 words), Video description (max. 150 words)
- Video length should NOT exceed 7 minutes. Videos longer than 7 minutes will be rejected immediately.
- Videos can be submitted only through your hospital’s submission team
- Deadline to submit videos: 25th September 2023
- Video can be shared only as an online link: you can upload to Google Drive or YouTube and share the link (don’t forget to change the access restriction)
- Submitted video should not already have been presented or published
The Competition:
- 15 videos will be selected for this competition for each track
- Video Presentation Competition: 3 winners will be selected in each track

- Innovation corner – stalls to showcase innovations (videos, posters, models) – during break times
- Common learning sessions
- Benchmarking – stalls with posters/e-posters to compare and benchmark AEH centres with each other on different parameters – including skill completion on Aurosiksha
- Poster by each centre
- Fun events
