Aravind Eye Hospital at Dindigul moved to a spacious facility situated on Thadicombu Road. Since it was found that a huge number of patients visiting Aravind-Madurai was from Dindigul and its surrounding places, Aravind opened a centre in Dindigul in a rented building more than a decade ago. The centre has seen a steady growth in patient volumes, year after year, creating acute space crunch. Anticipating this, a plot of land was purchased years ago and a spacious, well-designed hospital is now ready for providing better care and ambience to the patients and staff.

Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai in collaboration with Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society & National Health Mission, Govt of Tamil Nadu organised a series of workshops for the staff of eye departments across the government hospitals, in an effort to standardise the processes and systems for sterilisation and asepsis techniques.

Two new vision centres were opened, one by Aravind-Salem and another one by Aravind-Tirunelveli.
